I talked to Dad this evening, and they are still doing well. They have power intermittently, and the water is still running. They found a small chinese food restaurant around the corner that is actually operating, so all of their basic needs are taken care of. Their hotel has managed to withstand the initial quake as well as all of the aftershocks, some of which were over 6.0. He said it was like a ghost town there because everybody is hunkered down, and apparently many Chileans have left Santiago. We don’t know when they will be able to get back, but things seem stable for now. What a day!
