3-29-09 Shana says “Thank You”
3-29-09 6:00 pm
Well, we have now received chemo and we hope to go home sometime tomorrow. We will be going home with an infusion pole for fluids and TPN (food thru the vein) and I hope we get approved by our insurance company for some visiting nurses on a daily basis. Shana can’t eat real food so please don’t give us any food right now but we appreciate the thought if you were considering it. Chrissy just left to go back to her hubby in Houston and Brad will stay tonight with Shana so I can get to work tomorrow early. Shana has been feeling pretty good for the last couple of days and several people have been by to see her. She wanted to thank all of those who came to see her and especially those who prayed for her during this difficult time. She still can’t eat food but she has weathered the chemo pretty well but she will be kind of puny for a couple of days from the chemo and supporting drugs that she has taken. When she gets home, she will at least be able to move around the house some and that is really appealing to her since she has a major case of cabin fever from being in that small hosptial room at Harris. She has read each of the blogs and is very appreciative of everyone thinking of her and praying for her the last two weeks. Because of Wes, Chrissy and Brad staying a few nights with Shana, I slept for almost 18 hours straight and I feel really good now and ready to go another round. Both doctors have indicated that if Shana does well tonight that she will go home sometiime tomorrow. Maybe next week I will ask for some volunteers to sit with Shana during the day next week. We are taking chemo and at least have a fighting chance now so our attitude is considerably better. I will let you know when we get home or get approval to go home and try to keep this thing updated better.
Once again, you will never know the impact that your prayers and well wishes have had on Shana during the dark hours. It gives her so much strength to know that others care.
Love, Jim

Shana,
We are thrilled you are feeling a bit better. You are always in our prayers. It will be good to be back at home where you can be comfortable and rest with your family….maybe sit out on the patio and enjoy the springtime days. Our love to you!

Hi Shana and Jim,
It is so good to hear that you are going home again and also that Shana is feeling some better. I am praying that the chemo does its work well and that Shana has some real improvement as a result so that real food and more normal activity are possible. I am really glad you got some good sleep, Jim! You need to take care of yourself also. Thank you so much for keeping us posted! I think about you often and pray for you regularly.
Take care,
Susie

Volunteer, that’s my name. Let me know when to be there. Also, Jim don’t forget Mike’s offer to help with the medical tech stuff. See you soon.

Jim, my friend Susan has moved into an assisted living place in Grand Prairie. But . . .she has visiting nurses that come over to assist her with meds, clean the hourse (they said they will come to her new place still) and do whatever she needs done like running errands. She doesn’t pay anything but I don’t know if Medcare has anything to do with payment. Please check on it for Shana. I think it is called Visiting Nurses Assoc.
I have jury duty on Thursday and am working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but I will be glad to stay with Shana any other time. I am so glad to hear that she is doing so much better. God bless you both.

Shana, Jim and family
Thanks for everything ya’ll have done for all of us! I don’t know if you realize the impact your family has on all of us! We have seen you at the lowest, at a high and now restarting your life with the chemo again.
I have laughed so hard at some of your antics, cried, been to a wedding, even given birth (don’t I look good!),been to the ocean, and I didn’t even get burned, decorated the house, (by the way Jim, it is not over yet!). What a roller coaster of a life we have been on with you, and Thank You, I know we are not done yet, but with Gods help, and all of our continued prayers, we will get thru it all.
May God always keep you in His heart, and Bless the entire family always!
My love and continued prayers to all!!

So glad you are home. I will be happy to sit with you on Monday or Tuesday next week. However, if you feel up to it, please to my home Saturday evening for Jack’s 70 birthday party. No gifts, only insults - we want to toast him. If you can come for only a shor time, Jack would love it. The party should begin about 6:30 - I hope you can come for a little while. Love you and take care of yourselves. Again, I will be happy to sit with Shana on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Barbara
Patty is sitting here with me and she is as happy as me about your return home. She will be happy to help in any way also.

I am thrilled that you are home, and I would be happy to come and sit with Shana. I am recovering from neck surgery but no biggie. I can certainly sit with Shana. ANYTHING that I can do, count me in. My prayers are always with you and your entire family. It’s what love is all about. You and your family are a living testimony of what love really is and means.
Sincerely and with love,
