I must be superman now….

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Well, Brad and I are gearing up for our South American trip on Feb 12, 2010. I am immune now from everything because I went to the health department today and got shots for just about everything known to man. I am pretty sure you could shoot me and the bullet would bounce off after all of those shots. Anyway, we got a lot of information and we are now set to go to Brazil and Carnival now. We are getting pretty excited now and we are beginning our final preparations for the trip. So far I just want to take a pair of shorts and a single t-shirt but Brad tells me I need more than that so I am thinking it throught to see what all I need that I can put in a single backpack. We will see what I wind up with.

I am going to fire up this blog one more time.

1-18-10 10PM This blog is almost exactly 46 years to the minute since my mother passed away. I take some solice in the fact that Shana finally got to meet her when she went to heaven. I hope so, along with all the rest of our family members.
Anyway, I will be putting some more blogs on here but in a different vein. Brad, my son, and I are going to try to travel the world this year and whenever we can get to an internet cafe we will update our travels and keep people informed of what we see and experience. I think it will be of interest and we are taking this tour as a way to honor Shana and our family. We intend to go to South America beginning Feb.12 thru the end of Feb. We are going to Carnival from Feb 13-17th, 2010 and we are going to be on our own in Rio de Janiero, Brazil for those 4 days. We are having to stay in a youth hostel (no cracks please about how I got into that) and after 4 days of Carnival which is the original Mardi Gras we go to Iguanis Falls for 2 days to see the natural wonders of these huge falls that border Brazil and Argentina. Then we go to Buenas Aries, Argentina for a couple of days. Buenas Aries is considered the “Paris” of South America. Then we boat over to Montevideo, Uruguey for a couple of days and then to Santiago, Chili, and then to La Paz, Peru.
We are going to try to cheap it out so we get to see the people and interact with them to a large decree. We are pretty pumped and we are working on trying to get our visas and paperwork all together. Brad is going to HOuston to walk thru a visa to Brazil which is the hardest to get for us next week.
We have already booked 10 days in Greece in late April and early May to spend some quite time on the greek islands of Santorine and one other island as well as a couple of days in Athens. In between these two confirmed trips we are trying to get confirmation on a trip to China for 14 days and a trip to India for 12 days. Those dates are still kind of uncertain but we will get them worked in somehow.
Please keep us in your prayers and think of Shana and say a prayer for her when you can. Both Brad and I need these trips to get away. Brad has had a girlfriend, Mother, Aunt, Great Aunt, 2nd Cousins (2) and his grandmother and grandfather pass away in the last couple of years. It has hit him hard and he needs to see the world and its good since he has seen so much pain and suffering.
Hopefully, when the school year isover, we can have all of the kids join us in eastern Europe to visit Shana’s family village in Slovakia. Then we will see Austria, Germany. Poland, Macedonia, Greece and then hopefully get on a mediterranian cruise to see Crete, Isreal, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia and other sites around the mediterranian. Hopefully that will all work out in Julyor August.
