BEARDEN BOIL, BROIL & BREW*

Dear Friend,
You are cordially invited to a Crawfish boil, Hamburger broil and Hot dog cookout at our offices at 2404 Roosevelt Drive in Arlington, Texas on April 4, 2008 beginning at 2:00 PM to about 9:00 PM. We will shut down our offices at 2:00 PM on that date and we will eat crawfish and hot dogs at about 5:30 PM but the party will go at least until 9:00 PM. If you can, come anytime between 2:00 PM and 9:00 P.M. and feel free to bring your friends. This is our time to take care of you so please don’t disappoint us by not showing up. Shana will be the guest of honor.
Please come casually dressed and just relax for a while. We will have some adult refreshments and soft drinks available so I look forward to seeing you then. We are celebrating Shana’s good health, the advent of spring and the return of good weather and spirits. Please mark your calendar and let’s get this spring started off right. Let us cater to you for a change and let us pay back some of the wonderful things you have done for us. Come grab a bite to eat, have a cool one and relax to the music on the first Friday in April.
-Jim and Shana Bearden and Crew.

RSVP to Brad@beardenonline.com and let us know if you are eating crawfish. We need to import the crawfish and we want to get the right amount. Thanks!

3-25-08 A good grade from the doctors

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

3-25-08–Shana went to the doctor today and he raved about how proud he was of her condition and how she has recovered from the surgery. Everything looks good; Shana is feeling good, her strength is improving, her breathing has doubled in capacity, her attitude is much better and overall she looks good. Our local doctor wants her to gain some weight but frankly she has always had a problem with gaining weight (isn’t that unfair!) so she will meet with a nutritionist on Thursday. Can you imagine a world where you have to WORK to gain weight?! Something wrong with that. Anyway, Shana is doing well. She gets out of the house for a short period most days and she loves just going out into the yard and walking around. She now sleeps much better at night and that means everyone else sleeps better at night. Life right now is pretty good.
It is interesting from a detached viewpoint however how the rest of the family is doing. The stress and lack of sleep is finally catching up with the rest of us and it manifests itself by Brad and Chrissy and certainly me being just dead tired lately and finding it very difficult to just stay awake unless we are constantly engaged. I come home and fall asleep at 6:00pm some nights. Brad finds it very difficult to get out of bed in the mornings and Chrissy is also constantly tired. She has temporarily moved back to her apartment just so she can sleep better and try to get some personal business done like writting thanik you notes. Essentially, Shana is getting energy and everybody around her is crashing and burning. I think we all just need some rest but it seems like forever since I had a full nights sleep. My expectations are dramatically reduced. If I get 5 or 6 hours sleep at night that is a good nights rest and Brad and Chrissy are the same. On Easter, the family was talking and mentioned that the surgery was only a little over 1 month ago and SO much has happened that to me it feels like a year, Brad said it felt like yesterday and Chrissy says she felt like it was several months ago. Everyone has a different take on the “time stretch” that these type of situations engender. What has helped make it tolerable for Shana and us is how our friends and family have kicked in and helped. In retrospect there is no way we would have the outcome that we had without the contributions of our friends and family. You have been fantastic and we owe you. Just let me know what I can do for you and it is done. That simple. I will do anything possible for you, you just need to ask.
Shana still has a dangerous and unpredictable disease. We are managing it and we are very hopeful but we have to recognise that the disease will probably return at some point and we will likely have to go through this all again. When we do, we want you guys beside us all the way. Together we all make a pretty powerful team and we need to take that power of prayer and spirit of togetherness and help each other from here on out. We are truly a “village” that needs to take care of all of our members. Let me know how we can take care of you. We will be there without question. Speaking of the power of prayer, please pray for my friend Bee Rippy of Wichita Falls. She will be undergoing surgery in the next few days and she needs your intercession with the Lord to pray for her good outcome. Thanks for your prayers and good wishes for her.
Love Jim
